Austal misses out on Australian OPV project
Prime contractor Luerssen Australia announced on 11 May that it had concluded commercial negotiations with several partners for the Project Sea 1180 OPV programme, but the Australian shipbuilder Austal was not among them.
In a press release, Luerssen said it had ‘worked hard to explore options to leverage the experience base at Henderson’, including ‘lengthy negotiations with Austal’.
The release added: ‘Ultimately the negotiations with Austal have not generated a proposal that represents an acceptable level of value for money and Austal will not be a participant in the OPV build team.’
