Additional radars targeted for Kuwait
Kuwait looks likely to expand its military radar coverage following the US State Department approval of a foreign military sale (FMS) to the country for radar field systems.
The FMS request included a total sale of six short range radars, one long range radar will primary surveillance radar and secondary surveillance radar arrays, upgrades to an existing AN/FPS 117 (V) 3 long range radar. The latter is supplied by Lockheed Martin and was last upgraded in 2009.
The total estimated cost of this sale is $194 million as stated by the Defense Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA) in October.
