The prospect of Israel buying more F-35 aircraft could lead to business growth for IAI – but political uncertainty could scupper this and other plans.

Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) has said that the acquisition of a third Israeli F-35A (F-35I Adir) squadron would ‘definitely contribute’ to new business opportunities between it and Lockheed Martin.

Israel’s defence minister Benny Gantz has requested to buy additional aircraft from the US, according to Ynet TV, which would take the country’s programme of record to over 50 of the fifth-generation jets.

A spokesperson for the minister’s office told Shephard in a statement that it had ‘no further information to disclose at this time’ on the matter.
