Farnborough: F-35 international debut ‘uncertain’

The international debut of Lockheed Martin’s F-35 Lightning II remains uncertain as the deadline to cross the Atlantic Ocean in time for the Farnborough International Airshow (FIA) draws closer.

Any such flight would reflect F-35’s maiden international sortie outside the US. However, it remains undetermined as to whether the F-35 will be present at FIA following a Pentagon decision to ground the entirety of the Navy’s F-35 fleet on 3 July.

Original plans had envisaged the F-35 flying at the Royal International Air Tattoo (RIAT) at RAF Fairford, between 11 and 13 July.
