Centauri acquisition positions KBR for role in M-SHORAD
KBR announced on 5 October that it has completed its acquisition of fellow US company Centauri for an undisclosed price.
Centauri was an independent provider of advanced technology solutions covering EW, space, directed energy, cyber security and missile defence.
For directed energy, the company led the programme to develop the first fieldable high-energy laser weapon system for the US Army. This effort will result in a laser system for Maneuver Short-Range Air Defense (M-SHORAD) for Stryker brigade combat teams.
M-SHORAD is designed to defeat mortars, rockets, short-range missiles and aerial targets such as UAVs and helicopters.
