BAE Systems has completed its acquisition of the Airborne Tactical Radios business of Raytheon Technologies, following a definitive agreement reached in January 2020.

The radios division designs, manufactures and supplies mission-critical communications systems to the US military and its allied partners. Its takeover expands BAE Systems’ own communications portfolio to include broad-spectrum, multi-band, multi-channel radios with anti-jamming and encryption capabilities.

Jeff Jones, director of Airborne Tactical Radios, said: ‘Moving forward, our focus will be on the successful integration of our business to maximise the value we offer to our customers… we look forward to exchanging ideas and learning from each other to foster a culture of innovation that will further enhance our technologies.’

The company hopes that the new acquisition will complement its existing expertise in electronic systems and C4ISR systems.
