US donates helicopters to Costa Rica

The US government has formalised with Costa Rica’s Ministry of Public Security the donation of four Bell UH-1N Huey helicopters for use by the Central American country’s Air Surveillance Service (SVA).

The donation which covers the helicopters, their refurbishment, as well as the training of the Costa Rican crews tasked with operating the aircraft is valued at US$43 million according to the ministry.

The exact type of helicopter covered by the donation is somewhat unclear as the Huey denomination is not one previously reported.
