US approves Boeing upgrade of UK Apaches

The UK has inched closer to a decision on its attack helicopter replacement, with the US formally approving an FMS sale of up to 50 remanufactured Apache AH-64E attack helicopters for the British Army.

While the 27 August notification to Congress does not commit the UK Ministry of Defence (MoD) to a contract, the E model remanufacture route remains a likely option for the replacement programme.
