Panama commissions new AW139s

The president of Panama, Juan Carlos Varela, formally handed over to the country’s National Air Naval Service (SENAN) two new Leonardo Helicopters AW139Ms at the Air Station Lieutenant Octavio Garrido on 8 January.

The new aircraft, matriculated AN-145 (pictured) and the AN-146, were ordered in 2017, using funding from a US$100 million compensation payment made by Leonardo as part of a settlement over the return of a number of faulty coastal surveillance radars originally delivered by Selex to Panama.
