Malaysia launches search for naval helicopters

Malaysia issued a notice inviting tenders for maritime operations helicopters for the Royal Malaysian Navy (RMN) on 19 July.

No details of the programme value or number of assets required were listed in the public notice, but Adm Reza Sany, the RMN Chief, told media on 23 July that three helicopters were required.

The project is worth MYR220 million ($53.4 million), and the aircraft are required for operations in the Eastern Sabah theatre, where, since the 2013 Lahad Datu incursion, Malaysian military and security forces have been maintaining a continuous security presence.
