India receives Mi-17s, AW101 saga continues

India has received its first batch of 19 Mi-17V5s as New Delhi continues to clash with Italy over the termination of its deal to purchase AW101 helicopters.

India’s Ministry of Defence has confirmed that the government will file an appeal against a Milan court order rejecting India’s plea to recover $387 million in bank guarantees following the termination of the AW101 deal with AgustaWestland in January.

The fate of the three delivered AW101s now hangs in balance as the supply of rotable items begins to run out.
