India to place order for six Apaches

Boeing is set to receive a $651 million order from India, with the Ministry of Defence clearing a proposal to procure six AH-64E Apache helicopters for the Indian Army.

It will be a follow-on order to a 2015 contract awarded to Boeing to supply 22 Apaches to the Indian Air Force (IAF), sources said. 

This option could not have been exercised if India had delayed the clearance to late September, the source informed Shephard.

India’s Defence Acquisition Council (DAC), headed by Defence Minister Arun Jaitley, cleared the Apaches for the army despite the IAF’s opposition to equipping the ground
