The first of four NFH NH90 helicopters to meet the Belgian SAR requirement has arrived at Eurocopter’s Marignane, France facility with Belgian pilots set to commence training on the new airframe.

Maj Gen Rudy Debaene, director of Belgium’s Division of Procurement of the Department of Material Resources, described the delivery of the new helicopter on 26 August as a ‘major milestone for Belgian defence, an historic moment’.

The first NFH NH90, registration RN-01, will be delivered to Koksijde Air Base at the end of the year, and will become operational in 2014.

A second NFH is ready for assembly
