The CAE Brunei Multi-Purpose Training Centre (MPTC) plans to become an Approved Training Organization (ATO) according to European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) guidelines and procedures, CAE announced on 31 August.

CAE Brunei is a joint venture between the Ministry of Finance of Brunei Darussalam and CAE.

At present, the MTPC offers operator-led 'dry' training on a CAE 3000 Series S-92 full-flight simulator, certified Level D by EASA. The simulator entered into service at CAE Brunei in 2014.

The centre will add a turnkey instructor-led 'wet' initial and recurrent training solution for the Sikorsky S-92 helicopter later in 2015. The solution will include advanced simulator and classroom training led by qualified CAE Brunei MPTC instructors.

Kevin Speed, general manager, CAE Brunei MPTC, said: 'The CAE Brunei MPTC continues to make significant progress, and becoming an ATO is yet another milestone in the development of a world-class training facility. Being able to offer our offshore oil and gas customers flying the S-92 helicopter either wet or dry training is consistent with our commitment to supporting safe operations and crew readiness in all our training programmes.'

In addition to S-92 helicopter training, the CAE Brunei MPTC offers a comprehensive training programme for the Pilatus PC-7 training aircraft, including a CAE-built PC-7 flight training device.

The centre is also set to take delivery of a CAE 3000 Series S-70i Black Hawk helicopter simulator in 2016, and will begin offering a comprehensive training programme for the Sikorsky S-70i Black Hawk.
