Boeing CH-47 to be offered with R&D SDAR
Boeing has signed an agreement with Rohde & Schwarz (R&S) to offer the R&S next-generation software-defined airborne radio for H-47 Chinook helicopters, Boeing announced on 25 April.
The R&S SDAR offers secure broadband voice and data communications for network centric operations.
The integration of the radio into the Chinook's flight systems will give operators improved communications capabilities, including tailorable encryption, frequency hopping, agility, and voice and data connectivity advantages compared to conventional radios.Stefan Pleyer, vice president, Market Segment Avionics at Rohde & Schwarz, said: 'We are delighted that we are establishing this partnership with Boeing, a partnership that will put the next generation of software-defined
airborne radios on Chinook helicopters.'
