Australian Black Hawks reach six year flying hours record

The Australian Army's Sikorsky S-70-A9 Black Hawk helicopter fleet has achieved its highest rates of effort in more than six years according to the country's minister for defence personnel, material and science Greg Combet.

Speaking at the opening of a new contractor-owned support facility for army helicopters in Townsville, North Queensland, Combet said that that the Black hawk rate of effort during Australia's 2008-2009 financial year, ending 20 June, saw "an 11 per cent increase over the previous financial year and the highest for more than six years."
