AgustaWestland wins £760 million in UK contracts

AgustaWestland has won two contracts from the UK Ministry of Defence (MoD) worth an estimated £760 million, it was announced on 29 January.

The first contract, part of the Merlin Life Sustainment Programme (MLSP), will see AgustaWestland upgrade and convert 25 AW101 Merlin Mk3s being transferred from the Royal Air Force (RAF) to a maritime role with the Royal Navy’s Fleet Air Arm.

The second contract comprises continued operational support to the British Army’s Apaches AH1 attack helicopter fleet currently deployed to Afghanistan, to extend over the next five years.
