Saab adds LADM to the mix for Finnish fighter programme proposal
Saab is planning to offer a new decoy missile system called the Lightweight Air-launched Decoy Missile (LADM), as part of its Gripen E/F proposal for Finland’s HX Fighter Programme.
Gripen is competing against Boeing’s F/A-18 Super Hornet, Dassault’s Rafale, the Eurofighter Typhoon, and Lockheed Martin’s F-35. Tests and evaluations of the five candidates took place in January-February 2020 as part of the search to replace the country’s F/A-18C/D fleet.
The companies have since submitted updated proposals.
Saab is tight-lipped on details of the decoy missile but it is designed to jam or create false targets for acquisition, tracking, fire control
