Ian Kemp


Ian Kemp has written extensively on historical and modern defence issues for publications in Europe, the Middle East and the USA for 30 years. During his career with Jane’s Defence Weekly from 1986-2004 he served as Land Forces Editor, Features Editor and News Editor. He has been a regular contributor to Armada International, Asian Military Review and G3 Defence magazines and is one of the editors of the I/ITSEC Show Daily. He has collaborated on several books about British armoured vehicles and has written two books on tactical operations in the Second World War.

Ian is the Group Handbook Editor for Shephard Media responsible for editing the portfolio of ten handbooks including those on armoured vehicles, unmanned vehicles, and helicopters. Ian is also the European Editor for Shephard’s Land Warfare International and Military Logistics International.  He has a BA in History from Montreal’s McGill University and an MA in War Studies from King’s College, London. Ian has completed almost 40 years of reserve and regular service in the British and Canadian armies.
