Volz Servos announces Aerosonde contract
AAI Unmanned Aircraft Systems has awarded Volz Servos a contract to supply ‘thousands’ of digital actuators (DA) for its Aerosonde small UAS.
According to the German company, the DA-15 servos are already in service with Aerosonde platforms. The systems are designed to ‘actuate the air vehicle’s flight control surfaces and engine throttle’, a spokesman described.
Measuring 15mm in width, the DA-15 ‘micro-actuator’ is saltwater resistant and meets IP67 standards for water and dust intrusion. It also comprises EMI/RFI shielding and boasts hardened steel gears.
Volz Servos also supplies systems to Schiebel’s S100 Camcopter, Northrop Grumman’s BAT 12 and AME’s Fury
