The Gdansk University of Technology (GUT) is developing the latest variant of its multi-mission ROV, the Morswin.
Professor Lech Rowinski of the GUT in Poland told the Undersea Defence Technology conference in Alicante, Spain on 30 May that ROV technology was still relevant when it came to mine disposal work.
'This is considered a rather out of date technology to some people,' Rowinski said. 'I think there is always room for ROVs and there's a lot of work underwater to be done. We still have a lot of threats from World War I and II.'
