Republic of Korea selects Heron UAS
Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) will supply its Heron UAS to the Republic of Korea (ROK) following the system’s selection by the country’s Defense Acquisition Program Administration (DAPA).
The Heron UAS has been selected by DAPA following a full evaluation of the system and its capabilities. It will be procured as part of the ROK’s corps-level UAV upgrade project.
An IAI company statement said: ‘We appreciate DAPA and the Republic of Korea Army (ROKA) for selecting IAI, via a thorough evaluation process which set a high level of requirements, allowing the Heron to demonstrate its outstanding performance, innovative features, mission versatility and proven, advanced operational capabilities.’
Heron is a medium altitude long endurance UAS for strategic and tactical surveillance, reconnaissance, and target acquisition missions.
