DSTL outlines future armoured concepts

Concept designs outlining the next generation of combat UGVs from the UK’s Defence Science and Technology Laboratory (DSTL) indicate engineering potential but there were no plans to put them into practice and field such platforms, stated officials.

Recently released imagery from DSTL shows futuristic looking combat vehicles, both manned and unmanned. For the manned options, the Urban Operations Vehicle – a 22 ton multi-wheeled vehicle (pictured) – caught the eye, while the design for the unmanned two ton High Mobility Vehicle was configured for a variety of potential operational requirements.
