DSA12: iRobot weighs Asian options

iRobot is focusing its efforts on the Asia-Pacific market in the lead up to a possible permanent presence in the region.

Speaking to Shephard at DSA 2012 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on 16 April, Roy Rondoe, senior international sales manager for the company said: 'Up until a  few years ago 90% of our business was with the US DoD. We're trying to increase our presence in the [Asia-Pacific] region dramatically.

'Now, because of shrinking budgets, we're putting our efforts into Asia, and I definitely see an “iRobot Asia” in the future.'

Rondoe said iRobot has seven distributors in the region,
