Debut demo for unmanned duo

Twelve months after Lockheed Martin acquired Sikorsky the two companies have joined to showcase their unmanned capabilities in a demonstration at Griffiss Air Force Base in New York.

The demonstration was aimed at the commercial market, specifically firefighting, and involved small UAVs such as the fixed-wing Desert Hawk and Indago quadcopter as well as the Lockheed Martin optionally piloted K-Max and the Sikorsky Autonomy Research Aircraft (SARA).

The scenario demonstrated was a wildfire in which individuals had to be found and rescued. The Indigo and Desert Hawk UAVs both conducted situational awareness while the SARA was utilised for search and
