Ammunition boost for US Reapers
General Atomics has been awarded a contract with the US Air Force to integrate laser small diameter bombs onto the MQ-9 Reaper UAS.
The contract, announced on 28 November, is worth almost $17.5 million and will see the Guided Bomb Unit 39B/B (GBU-39B) integrated onto the air force’s MQ-9 Reaper using a universal armament interface on a dual carriage system.
The work, which will be carried out in Poway California, is scheduled to be completed by 27 November 2021.
