American Dynamics plan two versions of new rocket pod

American Dynamics Flight Systems says it is working on two versions of its new aerodynamic launcher for folding fin rockets, with the system to be marketed for both manned and unmanned platforms as a replacement for standard drum launchers.

Company president Wayne Morse says that a compact five round version of the new launcher is being proposed to allow carriage of standard and advanced configuration 2.75 inch folding fin rockets on unmanned air systems (UAS) such as the General Atomics Aeronautical Systems Predator family.

He says existing drum launchers are too heavy and too aerodynamically inefficient to allow folding fin
