SOCOM conducts ThunderDrone Prototype Rodeo
The US Special Operations Command (SOCOM) is preparing to host the ThunderDrone Prototype Rodeo later this week at the newest SOFWERX facility in the Ybor City area of Tampa, Florida.
In announcing this week’s Rodeo, USSOCOM representatives described it as ‘the culmination of the first in a series of rapid prototyping events that began in September’.
Command spokespeople emphasised that the results may cover technical areas that are focused on more than just the physical drone, its mechanical features or characteristics, noting that presentations may also explore autonomy, swarming, and machine learning.
