USSOCOM bulking up on missiles

12th March 2018 - 21:10 GMT | by Scott Gourley in California

The United States Special Operations Command (USSOCOM) is preparing to bulk up its inventory of tactical missiles with two sole source procurements. The procurement deals will buy additional Griffin Missiles from Raytheon Missile Systems and GBU-69/B Small Glide Munitions (SGMs) from Dynetics, Inc.

The planned procurements follow August 2017 contract awards by the Air Force Life Cycle Management Center (AFLCMC), Rapid Acquisition Cell at Eglin AFB. Those separate Indefinite Delivery, Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) contract awards, made in support of USSOCOM, enabled AFLCMC to order (on USSOCOM's behalf) up to 800 Griffin Missiles per calendar year (CY) through the end of 2021
