Sevastopol to host specialist dive unit and training centre
The Russian Ministry of Defence has approved a project for a new training centre and military unit to be based at Cape Chersonese in Crimea’s Sevastopol, which will focus on the security of country’s Black Sea ports.
The new centre will specialize on the training of rescue divers and commandos who will be responsible for the ensuring security in Sevastopol and other nearby seaports, among other roles.
According to plans of the Russian military command, the new military unit will be positioned as an analogous of the US Navy Seals as an elite of the Russian special forces.
