Nine becomes four as Brazilian Navy makes Tamandaré corvette selections
The Brazilian Navy has selected four out of a possible nine contenders for the Tamandaré class corvette project, the service announced on 15 October.
All four bids include European naval designers with most also looking to incorporate Brazilian industry.
The bids include the Meko A100 from Thyssenkrupp Marine Systems (TKMS), Sigma 10514 (pictured) from Damen/Saab, the Naval Group Gowind 2500 and Fincantieri, Leonardo and Vard offering a multirole corvette.
A Brazilian Navy representative confirmed to Shephard that ‘the next milestone and also the final selection is the choice of the Best and Final Offer, scheduled for December 2018.’
