New batch of patrol boats headed for Saudi Arabia
The latest batch of German-built Lürssen 40m patrol boats are being shipped to Saudi Arabia aboard a transport ship where they will enter service with the Saudi Border Guard’s (SBG) coast guard service.
The patrol vessels - Al Lith and Khaybar - were loaded aboard the transport ship BBC Alberta on 25 April at the port of Mukran on Germany’s Baltic coastline. The transport ship departed Mukran on 26 April.
The two patrol boats are the tenth and eleventh such vessels to be shipped to the SBG since late 2016 under a large multi-platform, multi-vendor patrol boat and support craft
