GDMS to develop UK/US ballistic missile submarines
General Dynamics Mission Systems (GDMS) has been awarded a $104.21 million cost-plus-incentive-fee, cost-plus-fixed-fee and cost-no-fee contract by USN Strategic Systems Programs.
It covers the FY2020-2023 period and will include the development, production and installation requirements of the Columbia and Dreadnought class ballistic submarines (pictured).
Work will be performed at sites in Connecticut, Massachusetts and Rhode Island as well as in the UK. It is expected that the work will conclude before November 2024.
The contact was awarded on a sole-source basis with funding from FY2020 Shipbuilding and Conversion (Navy) and FY2020 Research, Development, Test and Evaluation (Navy) allocations as well as $10.7 million from the UK.
No funds will expire at the end of FY2020.
