Davie breaks the ice with Canadian contract success
The Canadian Government has announced the long anticipated award of a contract for the procurement of three medium icebreakers for the Canadian Coast Guard (CCG).
Emerging from bankruptcy in 2013, Chantier Davie won the lucrative contract valued at CA$610 million (US$466 million) on 10 August. The shipyard’s new owner, Inocea, has seen Davie look for alternative approaches to the business by offering interim solutions to fill capability gaps.
Davie delivered an interim supply tanker, the MV Asterix, to the Royal Canadian Navy (RCN) in just two years by converting a commercial cargo ship.
Asterix will provide supply ship capability
