Costing confusion over Type 31e
The UK Ministry of Defence (MoD) has defended itself in light of suggestions by the National Audit Office (NAO) that it failed to stipulate the costings of the Type 31e light frigate project in its equipment plan.
In a 31 January report the NAO found that the Defence Equipment Plan 2017, which came as a result of the Strategic Defence and Security Review (SDSR) 2015, did not include financial provisions for the purchase of five Type 31e light frigates.
