AUTEC gains support from Amentum
Amentum Services is to support and maintain the Atlantic Undersea Test and Evaluation Center (AUTEC) for the USN, under a new $430.02 million contract from the Naval Undersea Warfare Center.
Based in the Bahamas, AUTEC is a large-area, deep water undersea range in which research, test and evaluation of ASW weapons, sonar tracking and communications are carried out.
‘The contractor performs AUTEC range operations support services and maintenance of facilities and range systems,’ the DoD announced on 13 August.
‘In addition, the contractor is responsible for operating a self-sufficient one square mile Navy outpost.’
Work will be performed on Andros Island in the Bahamas (64%) and West Palm Beach, Florida (36%), for completion by August 2025.
If all options are exercised, work will continue until August 2030.
