Austal Australia has delivered two Cape-class patrol boats to the Trinidad and Tobago Coast Guard (TTCG), the shipbuilder announced on 14 May.
The two 58m-long patrol boats, TTS Port of Spain (CG41) and TTS Scarborough (CG42), are the first monohull Cape-class vessels to be sold to an export customer. They feature some design modifications to suit the requirements of the TTCG, including additional armament placements and accommodation for up to 27 crew.
According to Shephard Defence Insight, Cape-class boats are armed with two deck-mounted 0.5-calibre general-purpose machine guns as standard.
TTS Port of Spain and TTS Scarborough can patrol for up to 28 days, with a range beyond 3,000nmi and a top speed above 25kt. Each vessel carries two 7.3m rigid hull inflatable boats.
Austal is also delivering 21 steel-hull Guardian-class Patrol Boats for 12 Pacific Island nations and Timor Leste under the SEA3036-1 Pacific Patrol Boat Replacement Project, with ten patrol boats delivered since 2018.
