Rockwell Collins JFO/JITAC simulators for Australia
Rockwell Collins will provide the latest-generation Joint Fires Observer (JFO)/Joint Terminal Attack Controller (JTAC) simulator to the Australian Army, the company announced on 24 February.
According to the company, the JFO/JITAC simulators will meet all the army's training requirements at present and for the foreseeable future.
Nicholas Gibbs, managing director, Rockwell Collins Australia, said: 'This award demonstrates that Rockwell Collins is an end-to-end simulation and training provider who can meet the unique requirements of training JFOs and JTACs.'
The JFO/JITAC simulator system is part of the RealFires family of JFO and JTAC simulators. It will be set up at the army's School of Artillery and is fully integrated with the Rockwell Collins FireStorm integrated targeting system. It includes includes training room facilities, a 270-degree dome, high fidelity graphics and a full simulation of FireStorm sensors.
The Firestorm system is the core of the Land 17 Phase 1B Digital Terminal Control System, and the RealFires system is a fully-scalable training solution range available as desktops as well as 360-degree immersive domes.
