Norway completes artillery testing
Norway is set to upgrade its artillery capability as a competition to provide a new or upgraded system gathers pace.
There is also the possibility that Norway could join with Denmark in the acquisition project as the latter also has a requirement.
The Norwegian Defence Materiel Agency (NDMA) is analysing the results of an evaluation of the four contenders to replace the Norwegian Army’s 18 remaining M109A3GN 155mm tracked self-propelled howitzers.
Four companies were invited to submit weapons: Nexter Systems, offering the 6x6 155mm/52cal CAESAR (CAmion Equipé d'un Système d'ARtillerie); Samsung Techwin, bidding its tracked 155mm/52cal K9 Thunder; Krauss-Maffei
