Ten per cent rise in piracy and robbery at sea in Southeast Asia
The Southeast Asia region continues to outstrip the rest of the world for piracy and robbery at sea, according to 2015 first quarter figures released by the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) International Maritime Bureau (IMB).
The total number of incidents reported to the IMB between January and March was 54, up around ten per cent on the corresponding period last year but the second lowest first quarter total for the past six years, due primarily to the dramatic reduction in the number of incidents off the East African coast.
