France and Italy agree on naval cooperation
Following recent tensions between France and Italy, the two governments have launched a joint roadmap to strengthen future naval defence cooperation and sealing the future of the STX France Shipyard.
The cooperative process, announced on 27 September following the French-Italian summit, paves the way for closer relations between the two nations in the naval defence sector.
A ‘balanced agreement’ has been reached by the governments on the shareholding structure of STX France that will involve both Naval Group and Fincantieri gaining equal shares in the shipyard.
