EW Europe: US explores high-power electromagnetics

EW and cyber operations are increasingly considered part of a larger whole and in the foreseeable future could be joined by High Power Electromagnetic (HPEM) weapons. 

The US Air Force has turned to industry to help investigate how HPEM technology might contribute to Cyber/EW Applications (CEWA), with contracts awarded to companies including Booz Allen Hamilton on 10 March, CSRA on 30 March and Raytheon on 12 May this year.

The systems that the companies build are to be tested in regular field experiments such as Black Dart, the DoD's live-flight, live-fire counter-drone event and its Vigilant Hammer EW systems test
