Farnborough 2018: Leonardo tight lipped over AW609 military negotiations

Despite the possibility of the Italian Government acquiring AW609 tiltrotor aircraft from manufacturer Leonardo, the company has insisted it is too soon to discuss the likelihood of any future deal.

Italy is believed to be among a number of military customers with whom Leonardo is currently talking, though it is not known how advanced such discussions are.

‘Any comment on opportunities and projected estimates with the Italian government is premature at this stage,’ a Leonardo spokesperson said in a statement to Shephard. ‘The AW609 has already been selected by government and military operators and is being considered by others
