Korean Air, Boeing team for Chinook upgrade

Korean Air and Boeing have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) that will see the two companies partner to target the Republic of Korea (ROK) Armed Forces' Chinook helicopter upgrade programme, it was announced on 19 October.

Under the MoU, Korean Air and Boeing will collaborate technically on the Chinook design, modification flight-testing and airworthiness upgrades.

The Chinook is operated by the ROK Army and ROK Air Force for search and rescue and transportation of artillery and troops. Seoul plans to upgrade the helicopters to improve operational capabilities.

In addition to jointly targeting the Korean upgrade programme, under this MoU the two companies plan to expand the collaboration for future upgrade programmes in Korea.
