Weaponised Fire Scout on the horizon

The newest iteration of the Northrop Grumman Fire Scout, the MQ-8C, will be transitioned into fleet operations at the end of 2018 according to the US Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR).

Fleet operations for the MQ-8C (pictured) are expected to commence at the end of 2018.

In addition, as the services continues development of the platform, the Fire Scout could soon be weaponised as NAVAIR wishes to reinstate the development of the Advanced Precision Kill Weapon System (APKWS) onto the aircraft.
