US Army orders MQ-1C spares and equipment
General Atomics Aeronautical System Inc (GA-ASI) has been awarded $21.7 million by the US Department of Defense for MQ-1C Gray Eagle spares and support equipment.
The contract modification, issued by the US Army, includes unique initial spares and ground support equipment for the MQ-1C Gray Eagle Extended Range (ER) UAS.
The Gray Eagle-ER features a robust, high capacity fuel system and offers an improvement in endurance and payload capabilities, in addition to improved reliability and maintainability, over the Gray Eagle system.
The new capabilities are intended to bridge operational gaps to enable combatant commanders to meet mission requirements at extended distances in emerging theatres of operation.
The contract will run through July 2021.
