Turkish Anka purchase confirmed

Turkish Aerospace Industries (TAI) has been awarded a contract to deliver ten Anka MALE UAVs to the Turkish Air Force (TAF).

The Undersecretariat for the Defense Industry (SSM) signed the agreement, worth some $300 million, with TAI on 25 October, and the vehicles and their GCS are expected to be delivered between 2016 and 2018.

TAI is looking towards developing the Block B variant of the Anka, which will incorporate an Aselsan SAR/GMTI payload, with development expected to be completed in 2014, and the production version will be known as Anka S (Serial).
