Sea-Air-Space 2018: Riptide to test compact UUV for DARPA
Riptide Autonomous Solutions will begin sea testing a new version of its deep rated UUV as part of a DARPA phase II Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) contract.
Under the $1.5 million contract, Riptide has completed development of one UUV and will deliver two more for sea testing next month, Jeffrey Smith, president and CEO Riptide Autonomous Solutions, told Shephard during a 9 April interview.
On display at this year's Sea-Air-Space conference, the UUV's mid-body is made out of aluminium, while the nose and the tail are composed of 3-D printed titanium. The vessel is 7.5 inches in diameter,
