IAI unveils new UAS control centre
Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) has unveiled a new UAV Mission Operational and Intelligence Center (MOIC), designed to enable control and command (C2) of advanced UAV missions.
The MOIC can provide C2 for multiple UAS platforms and payloads in order to improve the real-time operation of a fleet of UAVs.
The centre’s layout is based on mission operation cells, including upper commander cell, exploitation centre, C2 cell, full trainer SATCOM facility, support facility, and data storage centre. The centre covers all aspects of a mission, including interpreting offline and online payload data, reporting to high command, archiving raw and processed information and planning, commanding, controlling and monitoring mission performance.
This design aims to provide a full operational picture of UAVs to controllers, improve the coordination of the UAV fleet and manned platforms, maximise the fleet throughput by allocating assets according to operational priorities, improve safety, protect ground assets and save manpower and resources by centralising and automatising operations and maintenance.
Joseph Weiss, president and chief executive officer, IAI, said: ‘This unique solution addresses the needs of the advanced battlefield and adheres to customer requirements; it takes IAI's capabilities in the field of UAVs a substantial step forward.’
