Reamda upgrades Grasshopper UGV observation mast
Reamda, an Irish engineering company with a focus on UGVs and defence applications, delivered its Riddler platformed to the Irish Defence Forces last year.
General Dynamics Land Systems confirmed on 4 June that it has delivered two of its fully electric 8x8 Multi-Utility Tactical Transport (MUTT) UGVs to the British Army.
The delivery is reported to have taken place in April 2020 and the company is set to continue providing new operator training, maintainer training, in-service support, maintainer tools and spares plus a fully-supported helpdesk as part of the contract.
Carew Wilks, VP and general manager of GDLS – UK, said: ‘This Robotic Platoon Vehicle contract award is recognition of GDLS’ extensive efforts to meet the needs of Armed Forces worldwide with innovative solutions to the changing landscape of the modern battlefield.’
The MUTT (pictured) includes wheeled and tracked models and is designed to accommodate various payloads including ISTAR and lethal weapons.
The British Army also ordered four Mission Master – Cargo UGVs from Rheinmetall in April 2020, to be included in its Robotic Platoon Vehicle programme.
